So I received a phone call this morning by 'Windows help team'. I made sure I gave the agent a hard time, because this is how people get scammed off. The 'agent' said to me; my computer is downloading malicious programmes. I asked him how he knew this and how my telephone (land line) number was linked to my software. He provided me with a website and insisted he talks me through removing these 'viruses'. I asked how helping me remove viruses from my computer free of charge will benefit his company, he then passed me on to his 'manager'. I was not put on hold; the manager just seemed to be available straight away (literally). The manager asked me; if it wasn't a legitimate company, why they would have a website.free ring design software My response to him was; I am a media student and within a couple of hours I too can design and upload a new website and still be a fraud. I told him I was uncomfortable with giving a stranger control of my PC over the telephone, I asked for telephone number that I can ring them back on once I have checked them out online. They had no number. Does anyone know of these people and are they a fraud?

Microsoft will never ever phone you.

I had that happen to me. When I said that Microsoft does not phone people they replied.

No No I'm from the Windows Help Centre.

Well guess what? Windows Help Centre is part of Microsoft and they will never cold call you.

It may be possible that you havefree ring design software called them with a problem and they issue you a case number. Which they may call you back about quoteing that number.

To repeat - It's a scam.

I'm 99.99% certain this is an attempted fraud, or a scam of one sort or another

Don't EVER give out any personal, bank. or credit card details to ANYONE making contact via e-mail IM or phone.

If they do call you again, put the phone down.
I got one of those from some indian scammer. You could hear his accent from here to the moon. Actually I used to get a lot of them until I called him Monkey man and hung up in his ear. haha. I don't get them any more. haha. Eric.
